Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 19, 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the Phil the Beat website (phil-thebeat.com) and all associated apps and products, including the BPM Counter - PTB app, provided by Jan Philipp Joseph Bednorz, Einzelunternehmer, trading as Phil the Beat. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains clearly how we handle your information across all our services.

Website — Data We Collect

For a guest purchase we store the checkout email, order, license key, and secure-access token records needed to deliver and re-open the personal library. If you optionally create a PTB account, we also store your optional name, password hash, newsletter preference, and terms acceptance time. Session access uses an HttpOnly cookie; one-time email-link tokens are stored only as hashes and expire.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is stored for the purpose of sending you updates, exclusive content, and product announcements. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. We will never sell or share your email address with third parties.

Payments & Shop

Purchases through the shop are processed via Stripe. We do not store card numbers. Stripe may receive your email and billing address to create the payment and invoice. We store product, amount, date, Stripe payment/session ids, license key, and invoice URL.

Hosting and Service Providers

The shop is hosted on a server in Germany. We use Stripe for payments, Amazon Web Services S3 for private product delivery, and Google Workspace SMTP relay for transactional account and purchase emails. These providers process only the data needed for their service under their own data-protection terms and our configured agreements.

Legal Basis and Retention

Account and order data is processed to perform the contract and provide downloads. Billing records are retained for statutory accounting periods. Security, consent, email-delivery, and withdrawal records are retained as needed to demonstrate and defend legal claims. Newsletter data is processed only with consent and is removed or deactivated after withdrawal of that consent.

BPM Counter App — Data Collection

The BPM Counter - PTB app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All BPM calculations are performed locally on your device. No data is sent to any server.

No Third-Party Analytics in Apps

Our apps do not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising frameworks. The apps contain no third-party SDKs that collect data. No account or login is required to use any of our apps.

Cookies

This website may use essential cookies to ensure basic functionality (e.g., remembering your preferences). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can control cookie settings in your browser.

Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect any data you provide. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We will notify you promptly if we become aware of any security breach affecting your data.

Children's Privacy

The shop and paid account services are not directed to children. We do not knowingly create paid customer accounts for children who cannot validly enter the contract. If you believe a child provided account data without the required consent, contact us so we can review and remove it.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. You also have the right to restrict or object to certain types of processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@phil-thebeat.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the changes on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
